The Location

Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, Arcadia at King's Buildings is located on the vibrant King's Buildings campus in the southeast of the city. Surrounded by a rich and dynamic local community, the nursery benefits from nearby parks, Blackford Hill, and the local library, offering exciting opportunities for children to explore and engage with the world around them.

Our spacious, purpose-built nursery is equipped with exceptional indoor and outdoor facilities. We are fortunate to have a large outdoor area, providing seamless access between the playrooms and the garden. This encourages children to explore and play in a safe, natural setting.

This ideal location provides children with a nurturing environment where they can flourish, while also connecting them to the local community and city life.

The Team

At Arcadia at King's Buildings, our dedicated and diverse team is passionate about delivering outstanding care to children and their families.

The nursery is led by our experienced Nursery Manager, Vivi Koumati, and Deputy Manager, Kirsty Wilson. Supporting them is our highly skilled Early Years team, which includes a Senior team leader, alongside four Team Leaders who guide and support our practitioners and modern apprentices.

All staff are either qualified or working towards their qualifications, bringing a wealth of expertise to the nursery. We are proud members of the PVG scheme and are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council, ensuring we uphold the highest standards of care.

Continuous professional development is central to our ethos, enabling our team to grow and excel, ensuring the very best outcomes for children in our care.

The Environment

Arcadia at King's Buildings offers a natural and stimulating environment designed to help children thrive. Our purpose-built setting features three spacious, open-plan playrooms, catering for up to 113 children:

  • Harmony (0–2 years): 27 children
  • Peace (2–3 years): 30 children
  • Serenity (3–5 years): 56 children

These open and inviting spaces are carefully designed to promote independence and creativity through free play. With free-flow access to the garden, children can move between indoor and outdoor areas, connecting seamlessly with nature.

Our garden is divided into three distinct areas, each offering unique challenges and learning opportunities tailored to children’s developmental needs.

The nursery also features an open-plan dining room where children enjoy sociable mealtimes and snacks together. Shared spaces between playrooms encourage interaction across age groups, fostering friendships and supporting smooth transitions as children grow.
