The location

Arcadia @ Kings Buildings is located in the heart of Edinburgh. It is based at the Kings Buildings campus in the south east of the city. The local community offers many opportunities with various parks, Blackford Hill and the local library nearby.

Our large, purpose-built setting boasts fantastic facilities both indoors and outdoors. We are lucky to have a extensive outdoor space which allows free-flow access for the children between the playrooms and the garden.

The location of our nursery allows for the children to grow in a safe environment whilst integrating in the local community and city-life.

The team

At Arcadia @ Kings Buildings we have a large, diverse staff team. Our team are committed to providing high quality care to both the children and their families. Our team is led by the Nursery Manager, Vivi Koumati and Kirsty Wilson, Deputy Manager.

Our Early Years team consists of two Senior Team Leaders, Katrina Dickson and Silvia Benitez, and four Team Leaders who support our practitioners and modern apprentices. All of our staff are qualified or working towards their qualification, with a variety of different knowledge and skills. Our staff are members of the PVG scheme and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.

We value our staff and their individuality and support them to participate in regular continuous professional development to continually improve their knowledge and confidence.

The environment

At Arcadia @ Kings Buildings our large, purpose-built setting provides a natural and stimulating environment for children to grow and learn. We have three open-plan playrooms which accommodate up to 113 children. Harmony our 0-2 room can take 27 0-2 year olds, Peace our 2-3 room can take 30 children, and Serenity our 3-5 room can take 56 children.

The open-plan playrooms support free play and the free-flow access to the garden gives children the choice to play indoors or outdoors. The garden is an extension of our indoor environment and provides many learning opportunities for the children. The garden consists of three areas, each offering different challenges.

Our large, open-plan dining rooms allows children to enjoy meals and snacks in a sociable environment. We have shared spaces between each playroom which allows the children to interact with different age groups, which helps transitions for children.

At Arcadia @ Kings Buildings, we take pride in our environment and make the most of the wonderful space and facilities we have available.
