Arcadia @ Easter Bush is located at the Easter Bush campus, in the heart of the countryside.

Set against a stunning backdrop, the large purpose-built setting provides children with the opportunity to grow and learn in a natural environment. Children have access to a large outdoor space with fantastic views of wildlife and countryside.

The team

Arcadia @ Easter Bush is led by experienced manager Doreen McMillan who is supported by Laura Brooks, Deputy Manager. Doreen and her staff are a well-established team as they joined the Arcadia family in 2018 from the pre-existing Forest Friends nursery at the Roslin Biocentre.

Doreen and her team have many years experience as well as a range of knowledge and skills. They are committed to providing high quality care to both the children and their families.

Our Early Years team consists of our Senior Team Leader, Sharon Lumsden, and three Team Leaders who support our Practitioners and Modern Appretices. All of our staff are qualified, with a few working towards their qualification and are all members of the PVG scheme and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.

The environment

At Arcadia @ Easter Bush our large, purpose-built setting provides a natural and stimulating environment for children to grow and learn. We have three open-plan playrooms which accommodate up to 78 children. Harmony our 0-2 room can take 18 0-2 year olds, Peace our 2-3 room can take 20 children, and Serenity our 3-5 room can take 40 children.

The open-plan playrooms support free play and the free-flow access to the garden gives children the choice to play indoors or outdoors. The garden is an extension of our indoor environment and provides many learning opportunities for the children.

The large, open-plan dining rooms allows children to enjoy meals and snacks in a sociable environment. We have shared spaces between each playroom which allows the children to interact with different age groups, which helps transitions for children.
